Ahn Luh is an urban resort brand that epitomises a contemporary China meaningfully influenced by a long history of cultural traditions. The properties are designed to become new hideaways for the discerning traveller. Combining the essence of Old World Chinese hospitality in today’s context of contemporary elegance, Ahn Luh reflects – in service, architectural design and interior décor – how tradition and modernity can intertwine to present an original, urban resort concept.
The team behind the Ahn Luh brand is backed by strong industry players with a wealth of experience in the hospitality industry. They include Duan Qiang, the first Chairman of Beijing Tourism Group (1998-2019), the present president of China Tourism Association and chairman of the Union of World tourism, Adrian Zecha, the visionary behind Amanresorts, along with Hans R. Jenni, President and Director of GHM.
The first Ahn Luh resort – Ahn Luh Zhujiajiao – is located within an hour’s drive from Shanghai in Zhujiajiao town, an ancient water town of great renown. Resort guests can expect to be transported to another era: the lobby is a restored 600-year-old Ming dynasty courthouse while an opera theatre from the Qing dynasty forms the building’s core. Despite the history that surrounds, contemporary touches within the 35 villas of this development complement the rich heritage in an elegant setting, bringing the vision of the Ahn Luh brand to life.
